The Front Axle "ASAM" was created out of pure necessity. The increased weight & length of today's snow plows dramatically change handling characteristics of coil based suspensions.
While the plow is raised, weight transfers from the rear axle due to the load placed on the front suspension. This causes the loss of traction and a fish tailing affect during slick conditions. Keeping four wheel drive engaged to compensate while traveling burns more fuel and hastens wear & tear. Sudden braking will cause the front end to dive and create dangerous over-steer situations. Front end bounce while traveling presents ride quality and safety issues.
The Front Axle "ASAM" was designed to provide 4" of air lift at 40 PSI for a 1,100# plow. Each installation will require testing to find the proper PSI setting for your individual ride preference & equipment setup. When the plow is disconnected, 10-15 PSI needs to be maintained in the air springs. This allows them to act as the axle bump stop.
The Front Axle "ASAM" addresses issues with snow plows and other utility type vehicles that tax front suspensions. Vast improvements in ride height, braking, stability & ride quality are achieved after installation. The bounce is gone too!
We have re-designed this mount to work without drilling holes for the air lines. This speeds install tremendously! Please disregard the drilling instruction on this video.
